Community Fruit Rescue

In 2014 four community organizations (350 Colorado, Boulder Food Rescue, Falling Fruit, and Boulder Bear Coalition) cofounded Community Fruit Rescue. Although each organization was motivated for different reasons, we came together with the same goal of reducing the abundance of unharvested fruit throughout Boulder.

Since 2014, Community Fruit Rescue’s Harvest Program has:

  • Rescued more than 110,000 lbs of fruit
  • Distributed 276,000 servings of fruit locally to food insecure individuals & families
  • Organized over 470 harvests
  • Engaged nearly 1400 volunteers who contributed thousands of hours of work

From tree care to fruit share, Community Fruit Rescue empowers Boulder communities to reduce food waste, increase equitable access to locally grown fruit, minimize wildlife conflicts, and foster healthy and productive fruit trees.

We help the community harvest their fruit and share the bounty with local charities, including the bears at The Wild Animal Sanctuary!
